Spanish beans (Phaseolus coccineus syn. Phaseolus multiflorus) forms a climbing plant with a double vocation: we love its pretty red flowers and we like to eat its beans in pods or seeds. It comes from South America where it is grown as perennial whereas in Europe, it does not resist winter frost: it is sown as an annual plant.
